When you first discover synchronicity it is
like finding a new exciting toy. You want to play with it, and it's a great deal of
fun!
You'll begin to see it everywhere, and
you'll feel incredibly blessed by guidance, like you're special. You may feel
different than those who don't see it. You'll notice that many songs relate to what
you are thinking when you're listening to the radio. You'll see meaning in the
letters on license plates.
The danger may come when you believe that
the songs on the radio are all giving you guidance. In other words, if you come to
believe that because you were thinking of someone when a love song came on that's a sign
that the person is meant to be your lover then you may be taking it too far. Of
course, you may be right. However, there are many love songs on the radio, and in a
given day you may think of many people.
I found when I first discovered
synchronicity that it was too easy to lose track of my feelings. All of the guidance
was external, and it seemed abundant, and useful, so I followed it. Often it was
helpful. I then began to get lessons in following my heart.
The external world's synchronicity still
seemed to be relevant. There were many seemingly meaningful coincidences.
However, I began to understand that I couldn't rely completely on the external world
because my interpretations were often incorrect. I had to make choices, and it was
difficult. It's so much easier to simply turn your life over to the guidance around
you, but to develop your identity takes a great sense of inner-awareness.
The potential danger with synchronicity is
losing the ability to make choices for yourself because you have come to trust external
guidance more than you trust yourself. To lose the ability to trust yourself is to
live in confusion. If this happens to you, take a break from synchronicity.
See songs as songs. See license plates as license plates. Then, look within
yourself to find how you really feel. Pay attention to your body, and make sure you
always stay true to your core values and beliefs.
Synchronicity is a fascinating force about
which we still have much to learn. Enjoy the exploration, and try to not lose track
of who you are during the journey.
